The Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology (MITT) is a research and development institute specialized in the areas of rocket and space technology, missile systems, and thermal power engineering. It was established on 13 February 1946, as the Central Specialized Design Bureau (Russian: Центральное специализированное конструкторское бюро), under the leadership of the prominent Soviet missile designer Sergei Korolev.
MITT played an important role in the Soviet space program and was responsible for the development of several key rockets and spacecraft, including the Vostok, Voskhod, and Soyuz spacecraft, and the N-1 moon rocket. The institute also designed and developed various missile systems, including the R-7 intercontinental ballistic missile, which was the first in the world to deliver a nuclear warhead to a distant target.
Today, MITT is a leading research and development center in Russia, contributing to the development of high-tech industries, scientific research, and innovation. The institute has a strong focus on international cooperation and has established partnerships with institutions and organizations in many countries around the world.
